About Floyd County EMS
In 1974 thirty-three citizens came together to form the Floyd County Volunteer Lifesaving and First Aid Squad. The all volunteer squad faithfully provided emergency transport to sick and injured people within our community for many years. As time passed, the County of Floyd identified the need to support the volunteer effort with career EMS staff.

In the fall of 2004, Floyd County Emergency Medical Services was formed. This service would hire county employees to provide Basic and Advanced Life Support.

Today FCEMS has grown to provide 911 service 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Our primary operations are housed in the Town of Floyd but we are responsible for the entirety of Floyd County. We strive to keep two ambulances operational at all times, staffed with highly trained EMS providers.

Floyd County EMS is host to students from EMT-Basic to Paramedic programs. Students enjoy the learning experience from rural EMS transports that require critical thinking.

We also allow the public, aged 15 or older, to participate in Ride-Alongs to better understand EMS and gauge career interest.
